Genelia D'Souza, also known as Harini good friends, was born on August 5, 1987 in England into a Catholic family Mangalore. Her parents are Jennifer and Neil. She has an older brother. She grew up in Mumbai.
Her school days were spent in the Apostolic Caramel High School, Mumbai, as she spent her days at school St.Andrews College pursuing a degree in management studies. She is known as a state level athlete and a national player.
Her claim to fame began with commercials like Parker pens with Amitabh Bacchae and Krishnamachari Srikanth in Fair & Lovely.
She is supposed to be dating Riteish Deshmukh.
In 2003 she started her career with three films - Tujhe Meri Kasam Hindi film, the Tamil film Boys, the Telugu film Satyam. She worked opposite Ritesh Deshmukh in Tujhe Meri Kasam, which was a remake of Telugu movie Nuvve Kavalier and then an average response time. Boys, on the other hand, was a hit, like Satyam.
She built her popularity in the South with Telugu films and Samba (2004), Subash Chandra Bose (2005), and stitch (2005). She was recognized for her performance in Bommarillu in 2006 with several awards. The film was successfully remade in Tamil as Santosh Subramaniam (2008).
The year 2008 saw her attempt to pave her way to Bollywood in Priyadarshan More Baap Pehle Aap and this year hit Jaan Tu Ya Jaan Na. The film, which was the debut of Aamir Khan's nephew Imran Khan got much publicity, and its role as the ruthless seemed Meow.
