Before she entered beauty contests, Navarrete studied nutrition. In July she was crowned Nuestra Belleza 16.2009 Jalisco in her hometown, and later she won the national title Nuestra Belleza Mexico, besting thirty-three other participants in the 16th edition of this event, held September 20, 2009 in Merida, Yucatan. That night, Navarrete was the second consecutive winner of Jalisco, after Karla Carrillo, the outgoing titleholder and a good friend who encouraged her to participate in the parades.
On August 23, 2010, Navarrete before large numbers of people around the world was named Miss Universe 2010, earning her the second Mexican delegates to the title after winning in 1991 Lupita Jones. Coincidentally, both were crowned in Las Vegas, Nevada. Collection spectators burst into joy and gave big hand to her. She also showed her smiling full presence of spectators.
